Ever since 60+ years ago, when for the
first time an optical coating was applied onto glass by Alexander
Smakula at the Jena Zeissworks, the further development of such
has continued at an extraordinary pace. However, these days the
finishing of optical surfaces focuses more and more on the interference
coating itself which has increasingly become an essential optical
component.
Following
this tradition, OIB (Optical Interference Components) was founded
in Jena, Germany, 1990. At the helm, is its founder Dr. Eberhard
Schmidt, who has brought with him a wealth of knowledge. In fact,
he has worked with this type of technology for over 40 years.
Through many and sometimes quite unusual developments, including
difficult cases, OIB has been able to earn a solid standing in the
industry.
